Both on the road and on the track, knowing which gear is engaged is far from trivial information, proving useful for engine management and optimal riding. No longer regarded as an optional, the gear indicator is an essential feature for the most advanced vehicles.
The client needed to apply the sensor to lower-end vehicles, aligning them with market segments where gear indication is standard. The pre-existing electromechanical sensor to be replaced detected only “neutral” and was subject to incorrect measurements due to mechanical components and lubrication subject to degradation and wear.
Thanks to its experience in the automotive sector, Intea managed to develop a contactless sensor that is much more complex and higher-performing, yet compatible with the pre-existing casing and fastenings. Considering the high quality standards required, the design of the sensor also involved advanced skills in mechanics and fiberglass-fabric wiring: a 360° handling of the product to ensure its reliability.
Intea calibrates the sensor in the factory and delivers it to the client already tested and ready for installation, relieving them of further checks or programming, with clear advantages in production. Compliance with the strict mechanical constraint imposed and the high level of service offered by Intea inaugurated a happy season of collaboration with the client in the name of innovation.
